GOALS
The primary design goal was to create a magazine highlighting the brand and its sustainable practices. By utilizing minimalist layouts, generous white space, and a neutral palette, the magazine can visually mirror the breathable, chemical-free nature of the clothing. Ultimately, you are aiming to bridge the gap between “medical-grade” utility and high-end editorial style, positioning the brand as both a sustainable company and a better clothing choice.
CHALLENGES
One of the most significant creative challenges was creating the magazine, keeping it minimal and organized to showcase all the different sustainable practices they partake in, while also matching it to the brand. Because their color palette is so minimal, I faced the challenge of creating a direct reflection of their brand.
NARRATIVE
The brand is particularly well-known for its “Nothing but Cotton” line, which features underwear, bras, and socks that utilize drawstrings or unique cotton-based structures instead of traditional elastic. As a Certified B Corp, Cottonique also prioritizes environmental ethics, using GOTS-certified organic cotton and plastic-free packaging. Their commitment to health extends to their business model, as they donate 5% of their revenue to health and environmental causes.
RESULTS
Cottonique’s sustainability report identity creates an appealing aesthetic to showcase the company in a professional way that represents their brand. Through unique typography and earthy color choices, the report becomes a organized space to represent their brand, highlighting their most important aspects to appeal to the viewer.
